The America's Cup

The history of the Deer Isle Boys date back to 1886 beginning with the Mayflower. In 1895 and 1899, two crews made up of men entirely from Deer Isle, won the America's Cup races. They lived and worked here and a group of students from a junior English class and the DISHS CREST class set a goal to research their lives and their descendents to connect them to the Island today. Click on one of the Boat Names below to learn about each one and it's crew.
